Why Rose Gold Interior Lighting Still Shines
We were delighted to be featured on Houzz UK for one of our much-loved family dining spaces, praised for its rose gold interior lighting. This project was included in a round-up exploring whether rose gold is the metallic tone of the year—highlighting our mix of Tom Dixon pendants in rose gold, silver, and brass.
Mixed-metal pendants strike a perfect note of polish and personality in this family dining space—where material contrast meets modern ease.
This project was for a lovely client—an artisan cake maker—who needed a dedicated kitchen for her business, while also wanting a warm, open-plan space the whole family could enjoy (teenagers and their friends included). We designed a full basement conversion and generous rear extension that created a flowing kitchen, dining, and TV area.
The lighting played a central role in defining the zones and setting the tone. We specified Tom Dixon’s Void Medium Pendant in polished copper, along with matching shapes in silver and brass. Mixing metal finishes like this can be tricky, but sticking to the same silhouette across different tones gives visual harmony. The result is elegant but playful.
The dimmable lighting also supports the range of functions in the space—from early-morning baking sessions to cosy, sociable evenings. Visually, the polished metallic finishes bring a warm glow that offers sympathetic relief against the contemporary brick wall behind. The combination of shine and texture creates depth without visual clutter.
Underfoot, a pale grey microcement floor runs throughout the space, paired with underfloor heating to ensure comfort. Its seamless finish helps tie the kitchen, dining, and TV zones together while allowing key design elements—like the statement pendants—to really shine.
