Featured on Houzz : Choosing the Perfect Splashback
Why a Painted Glass Splashback Still Works Wonders
We’re thrilled to share another feature on Houzz UK, where our kitchen design was included in their guide: How to Choose the Perfect Splashback. The article highlights clever and creative splashback ideas, and our use of painted glass made the cut for its timeless, fuss-free finish.
This project is close to our hearts. It was created for a professional cake-maker who needed a dual-purpose space—part high-performance kitchen, part family hub. The kitchen is part of a wider open-plan layout that includes a dining and TV area, all tied together with considered materials and cohesive lighting.
The painted glass splashback in this kitchen was chosen for its sleek, streamlined appearance and practicality. As Siobhan shared in the article:
“You should always ask for tempered glass, which is harder than ordinary glass and will be far less likely to scratch… Also, ask for polished edges so there’s less chance of scratching the surrounding furniture on installation.”
It’s this kind of detail that makes glass such a clever choice—not just for looks, but for durability and ease of use. Seamless panels are easy to clean, resistant to heat, and bring a soft reflectiveness to the room that tiles often can’t achieve.
You can even personalise the colour or design of your glass splashback, but as Siobhan notes,
“I would always recommend that a professional takes care of the painting. It could be a costly mistake to attempt this yourself without the experience and knowledge of a professional to ensure the colour-matching is exact.”
As always, it’s not just about what looks good—it’s about what functions beautifully day-to-day. You can view the full project in our Kingston gallery.
