Why This Contemporary Kitchen Still Feels Fresh 

We’re thrilled to have one of our projects featured in Houzz US’s curated round-up: Design Ideas From 21 Much-Loved Rooms. Among the inspiring spaces, our contemporary kitchen stood out for its clean lines, considered materials, and timeless layout.

This project was designed for a fabulous home baker—a client who needed a kitchen that could flex between professional cake-making and family dinners with teenagers and guests. The kitchen is part of a larger ground-floor transformation that included a new dining space and family TV area.

This particular image, celebrated on Houzz, captures the contemporary kitchen design in all its clarity. From the sleek, painted glass splashback to the quartz island worktop with waterfall side panels, every element was chosen for both performance and aesthetic calm. The walnut veneer upper cabinets add a warm contrast to the otherwise minimalist material palette, while the American-style fridge freezer and Smeg range cooker offer the functionality this busy household needed.

The layout was designed to prioritise flow—between tasks, zones, and people. This kitchen had to serve weekday breakfasts, business baking prep, and big Sunday lunches—all with ease. The materials we selected, from the hardwearing quartz surfaces to the seamless microcement flooring, support both durability and style.

We’re particularly fond of the reflective quality of the splashback, which adds subtle light play and depth to an otherwise pared-back wall. Paired with concealed lighting and dimmable pendants, this room becomes truly multifunctional.
